¡Gracias, Luciano!

At our Argentine Tango Academy in Alicante, we teach traditional tango in the way it was passed down by the old masters. Our classes focus on the embrace, musicality, men’s and women’s technique, walking, partner connection, and the authentic figures of tango de pista, preserving the true essence of Argentine Tango.
Milonga is a lively style of Argentine Tango characterized by its faster rhythm and distinctive beat. In our classes, we focus on the essential techniques for dancing milonga, helping you adapt to its playful musicality and vibrant style while keeping the authentic spirit of Argentine Tango alive.
Tango Vals, often referred to as tango criollo, is a distinctive style of Argentine Tango with its own rhythm and technique. In our classes in Alicante, we guide you on how to interpret this elegant style, moving fluidly to the vals rhythm while enriching your tango repertoire.
Luciano Tango, originally from Buenos Aires, has been teaching Argentine Tango for over twenty years both in Argentina and throughout Europe. With decades of professional experience as a dancer, choreographer, and teacher, he has now made Alicante his base to share the essence of authentic Argentine Tango with a broader community of students and dance enthusiasts.
In his classes, Luciano Tango shares a style that combines elegance, technique, and authenticity, conveying the secrets of Argentine tango that he learned from the old masters: posture, connection, walking, footwork, musicality, improvisation, the variety of figures, and both male and female technique.
If you want to learn true tango, come and discover it in the heart of Alicante, where every term there are themed workshops, intensive courses, and private lessons for all levels. Don’t just hear about it—experience it firsthand!
No, you don’t need any previous experience. You can come alone, with a partner, or with friends. If you already have some knowledge of tango, we’ll do a short evaluation to place you in the group that best matches your level; if it’s your first time, you’ll start in the introductory group.
No, it’s not necessary to come with a partner. In class, we organize students so that everyone gets a chance to practice, rotating partners. If you do come with someone, that’s great too, but it’s not a requirement to get started.
We recommend comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily. There’s no need for special attire to get started. As for footwear, the ideal choice is shoes that fit securely and allow you to slide, preferably with a leather sole or similar. If you don’t have tango shoes, you can begin with comfortable shoes (preferably without non-slip rubber) until you decide to invest in a specific pair. In addition, we offer handcrafted tango shoes for both women and men for those who wish to get the right pair from the start.
In our tango classes in Alicante, we focus on authentic Argentine tango, also known as salón tango, tango pista, or social tango. It’s the style danced at milongas all over the world, where the priority is connection with your partner, musicality, and the shared enjoyment on the dance floor.
In addition to tango, we teach two fundamental rhythms that are part of the same cultural universe: milonga, with its more rhythmic, joyful, and playful character; and vals criollo, which brings fluidity and a circular feeling to the dance. These styles complement the learning process and enrich the student’s musical and physical experience.
As part of our teaching approach, we also offer specialized workshops:
Fundamental tango technique (posture, walking, embrace, balance).
Women’s technique (axis, embellishments, projection, elegance).
Men’s technique (lead, embrace, musicality of the leading role).
Musicality, improvisation, and interpretation to develop creativity.
Variations and complex figures, adapted to the level of each group.
De esta manera, tanto si comienzas desde cero como si ya tienes experiencia, podrás aprender tango en Alicante con una formación integral, pensada para que disfrutes bailando socialmente y evoluciones en cada clase.
The duration of our tango classes in Alicante varies depending on the chosen format, so that each student can find the option that best suits their needs and learning pace.
Weekly group classes: they usually last about 1 hour to 1 hour and 30 minutes, just enough to absorb technical and practical concepts without overloading the body.
Private classes: they can last from 1 hour up to 3 hours, depending on the student’s or couple’s goals (technical reinforcement, milonga preparation, refinement of figures, etc.).
Monographic and intensive workshops: in this case, the sessions usually last between 1.5 and 2 hours, as they focus on specific aspects such as female or male technique, musicality, improvisation, or advanced interpretation.
Thanks to this flexibility, each student can organize their training in a personalized way, combining regular classes with special workshops to progress more quickly on their journey into Argentine tango.
In our tango classes in Alicante, we organize the teaching by levels so that each person can learn in a group according to their experience. The suggested practice times are only indicative, since each student progresses differently. Before starting, we always carry out a level assessment to place you in the most suitable group.
Beginner (0 months of experience): for those who have never danced tango. The focus is on the basic foundations: posture, embrace, walking, balance, and first steps in improvisation.
Improvers (approx. 3 to 6 months): ideal for those who have already had a first contact with tango and wish to consolidate the fundamentals, improve partner connection, and begin exploring small sequences.
Beginners (approx. 6 months to 2 years): the dance vocabulary is expanded (ochos, turns, crosses, changes of direction), with an emphasis on musicality and fluency on the dance floor.
Intermediate (approx. 2 to 4 years): aimed at dancers who already feel comfortable on the social dance floor and are looking for greater technical quality, incorporation of variations, sacadas, more complex turns, and interpretation of different orchestras.
Advanced (more than 4 years): designed for those with solid experience, focusing on improvisation, musical interpretation, advanced variations, and technical refinement. The aim here is creative freedom without losing the essence of social tango.
Thanks to this structure, each student can progress step by step on their journey into Argentine tango in Alicante, with comprehensive training that combines technique, musicality, improvisation, and interpretation.

Beginner students share a special class designed to discover tango from scratch.
More experienced dancers take a level assessment, which allows us to guide them to the group that best matches their background and learning process.
Outside of these dates, it is also possible to attend a single trial class, but in this case the session has a fee. This is always organized with careful attention to maintaining a balanced proportion between roles (leaders and followers), in order to preserve the quality and dynamic of each group.
In this way, both beginners and experienced dancers have the opportunity to experience Argentine tango in Alicante before committing to a full course.

Yes. Throughout the year we offer women’s technique workshops in Alicante, where we focus on specific topics: embellishments, musicality, turns, elegance, interpretation. These are intensive workshops of 1.5 to 2 hours that allow participants to go deeper into a specific aspect of the follower’s role.
In our women’s tango technique classes in Alicante, we work on the essential elements that help each dancer improve her confidence, elegance, and expressiveness on the dance floor. These workshops are open to all levels, although we recommend having at least 6 months of experience to make the most of the technical work.
The main contents include:
Posture and body axis, essential for achieving balance and presence.
Walk and projection, the foundation of all Argentine tango.
Dissociation and weight transfer, key to moving with fluidity and precision.
Female embellishments (planeos, boleos, enrosques, caricias, firuletes), applied with musicality and without interrupting the connection.
Musicality and interpretation, to bring personality and expressive richness to every movement.
Style and elegance, working on confidence and body communication with the partner.
The classes combine individual exercises in front of the mirror, guided technical sequences, and dynamic group practices, allowing for deep and progressive learning.
In this way, women’s technique becomes an essential tool for progressing at any level, from the very first steps to a more mature and refined tango.
Yes. An important part of women’s technique is dedicated to embellishments and expressive resources: planeos, boleos, enrosques, caricias, and firuletes. These are practiced both from a technical perspective (axis, control, dissociation) and from an artistic one (when and how to incorporate them with musicality and elegance).
Confidence in tango is built through conscious technical work: solid posture, a comfortable embrace, mastery of the axis, and active listening to the music. In women’s technique classes, you will learn to feel more stable, to respond naturally to the lead, and to contribute your own style. This translates into greater confidence and enjoyment on the dance floor.

These three concepts are the foundation of Argentine tango:
Projection: initiating the movement with clarity, directing the energy into the step.
Dissociation: moving the upper and lower body independently, creating fluidity and elegance.
Weight transfer: shifting from one axis to the other with precision, without losing balance or connection.
In women’s technique classes, these are trained with specific exercises that are then applied directly in social dancing.
Yes. Musicality is essential in tango, and in women’s technique we dedicate time to recognizing different orchestra styles, marking accents, interpreting musical phrases, and adding embellishments or pauses that interact with the music. This helps develop a more personal and expressive dance.
Absolutely. Women’s technique is the perfect complement to group Argentine tango classes. What is learned in the technique sessions (posture, embellishments, musicality) is applied directly to social dancing, enabling faster and more confident progress.
Yes. We offer private women’s technique classes in Alicante, ideal for working on specific goals: posture, turns, embellishments, musicality, or preparation for a milonga. The individual format allows for personalized attention and faster progress.
Both share the same technical foundation (axis, walk, dissociation, musicality), but they focus on different roles:
Women’s technique focuses on receptivity, the elegance of movement, musical interpretation, and embellishments.
Men’s technique works on clarity in leading, projection, the structure of the embrace, and creative guidance.
Both complement each other and are essential for achieving harmonious connection in social tango.
In our men’s tango technique classes in Alicante, we focus on strengthening the skills of the leader’s role — that is, the ability to guide with clarity, confidence, and sensitivity. The goal is for each dancer to develop precise, comfortable, and musical leading, creating a smooth dancing experience for the couple.
The main aspects we work on include:
Posture and body axis: maintaining a firm yet flexible embrace, with stable balance at all times.
Walk and projection: the art of “walking the tango” with determination and elegance.
Lead and conduction: communicating intentions to the follower clearly, smoothly, and with constant connection.
Sacadas, turns, and variations: technical resources adapted to each student’s level.
Improvisation and creativity: how to build your own dance in real time, respecting the music and the shared space.
Musicality: interpreting different orchestra styles and adapting the energy of the lead.
In this way, men’s technique becomes an indispensable tool for any leader who wants to enjoy social tango with greater confidence and style.
Yes. Throughout the year we offer men’s technique workshops in Alicante, which are intensive sessions lasting between 1.5 and 2 hours. Each one focuses on a specific topic: walking, embrace, musicality, variations with turns or sacadas, improvisation on the dance floor.
These workshops allow participants to go deeper into specific aspects of the leader’s role and refine details that, in regular classes, are often worked on in a more general way.
Personal style emerges when technique and musicality are integrated with individual expression. In men’s technique classes, we teach dancers to:
Master the fundamentals (axis, embrace, walk).
Listen and dialogue with the music to choose pauses, embellishments, or variations.
Improvise according to the partner, the space, and the moment.
Find a balance between clarity in leading and personal creativity.
Over time, each leader develops a unique way of dancing, respecting the tradition of Argentine tango while bringing their own identity to the dance floor.
Without a doubt. The main goal of men’s technique is to enhance the social tango experience — that is, dancing in milongas, prácticas, and encuentros.
By working on clear leading, musicality, spatial control, and improvisation, leaders gain more confidence and flexibility to adapt to different partners and various musical contexts.
This translates into greater confidence on the dance floor, more enjoyment for both roles, and better integration into the dynamics of the milonga.
Although milonga and Argentine tango share the same embrace and social codes, there are key differences in their interpretation. Milonga is faster, more rhythmic, and playful, with shorter and more dynamic steps, while tango tends to be slower, more elegant, and introspective.
In milonga, resources such as the traspié (a double step within a single musical beat) and a greater play of dynamics are used, giving it a joyful and festive character.
Milonga as a musical genre is characterized by:
A binary rhythm (2/4), faster than tango.
A marked rhythmic regularity that invites constant movement.
A cheerful and lively character, with short and repetitive musical phrases.
Influences of the habanera and candombe in its origins.
These characteristics make milonga an ideal genre for developing reflexes, coordination, and musicality within tango.
In dance, we mainly distinguish two forms:
Milonga lisa: danced “smoothly,” that is, walking and marking one step for each musical beat, with simple and fluid movements.
Milonga con traspié: incorporates the traspié (a small change of weight within the same beat), creating rhythmic variations and a more playful dynamic.
Both forms coexist on the dance floor and can be alternated within the same tanda.
La milonga puede parecer más accesible porque no requiere tantas figuras complejas como el tango, pero su rapidez y constancia rítmica la hacen un desafío para principiantes. Many students find it easier to start with tango and vals, and then incorporate milonga as they develop greater balance, musicality, and coordination.
